While the surfers made their way to the ocean this morning, we began our ride towards the east. Our 1st day on the Southern Tier was finally here. As we came to the mountains, not only did the terrain change, but the sun finally showed itself and we were able to shed some layers of clothes.
The rumors are true about the climb to Alpine being brutal! It definitely eats the battery. Between the grocery store and then a nice man letting us charge midway up the mountain, we finally made it into Alpine. We set our tents up at First Baptist Church for the night, ate a salad and heated up spaghetti for dinner and went to bed. I've decided that taking a shower is overrated. It's been 3 days and I'm still alive! 𦨠π¦¨
We also met other riders as they began the Southern Tier. It was an exciting day. The journey has begun!

ReplyDeleteYes, showers are overrated. π Getting wet in cold weather voluntarily is not the smartest thing. Maybe a hotel for one π. So glad you're finally on the ST officially. Stay safe and pedal on. π΅
